OCN London rewards Best Access Learner of the Year 2011
Cathy Tyson enrolled on the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Combined Studies at OCN London member Adult Learning College City Lit to develop her academic skills in readiness for university. Over the course of her year’s Access study her progress was remarkable and she managed to achieve a third of her grades at distinction level and nearly two-thirds at merit level. Access to Business students awarded scholarships to university
It’s been another great result for the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Business students at City of Westminster College, with five students celebrating scholarship awards.
These scholarships enable Access students to move on to higher education courses in the Business field at University of Westminster and are awarded to candidates who show great potential. Gold Scholarships (worth £4,000) have been awarded to Siobhan Aziz and Adriel Thomas, while Silver Scholarships (£2,000) have been awarded to Raul Hernandez, Edvin Manushi and /Julia Ryabchych. read more...
Young mum crowned Kensington and Chelsea College’s Learner of the Year 2011
She arrived in the UK unable to speak English and without any qualifications and has now realised a life-long dream to go to university after getting back into education at Kensington and Chelsea College.
Pranvera Vrina, originally from Albania, has received Kensington and Chelsea College’s Learner of the Year 2011 Award in a special awards ceremony rewarding her determination to earn the qualifications needed to start a degree course. read more...
Lorraine Pearson – Outstanding Adult Learner of the Year
Lorraine had dedicated her life to her family, bringing up five children, but when her youngest child started nursery she wanted to prove to herself that she could do more with her life. Fortunately, City and Islington College had recently opened an adult learning centre close to her home in North London. Lorraine enrolled on a forensics taster course and a basic IT course.
