Since 1983, Open College Networks have been leading the way in credit-based accreditation and qualifications. We have traditionally offered our centres the flexibility they need, though our credit-based system, to develop learner-centred provision and recognise learner achievement in small steps. This approach has enabled thousands of learners to receive certificates for their achievements, often for the first time in their lives.

National Qualifications

OCN London Region offers Ofqual approved NOCN Qualifications which are eligible for funding through the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA). These qualifications range from Entry level to Level Three (Level 4 qualifications also available in teacher training) and cover a diversity of curriculum and vocational areas. Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)

The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) is a new way of recognising skills and qualifications and replaced the NQF in September 2010. In the QCF all qualifications are broken down into units and each unit has a credit value. The qualifications are written in a standardised way that enable learners and employers to quickly understand the difficulty (level) and size (number of credits) of any qualifications or units achieved. Accreditation of Access to HE Diplomas

Our Access to Higher Education Diploma courses are designed to provide the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to progress to a degree or diploma course in higher education. These courses enable mature students who do not have the necessary level 3 qualifications (such as ‘A’ levels) required to progress to Higher Education to acquire the Access to HE Diploma, which is equivalent in standard to these qualifications.
